Hard to think of a place I would not enjoy riding the AT. Considering the ability to cover distance on the slab then take off on the dirt...discovery is the word. Got some great wild country riding around Yellowstone. The Red Desert (Continental Divide Basin) screams AT. Colorado would be great as would Idaho. Don't forget Montana (Crazy Mts up to Going To The Sun). Riding the back roads of Virginia and West Va, when young, was tremendous. Western Maryland roads go up around and down in a very pleasing way. Then there is the desert country of New Mex, Arizona and Cali in winter. Crazy California is like nowhere else, in many ways. Oregon, coast and mountains! Washington Rt 20 through the Cascades. Dump the house and RIDE! If I can only live long enough.
